The fact that I can even get up in the morning in our current hellscape is a fucking miracle.

Our kitties have definitely come a long way! Abigail is very demanding for pets at all hours of the day or night. She's so sweet. Fletcher still goes after her, but at least now it's one sided. Kennedy has been steadily warming up but is still generally aloof. At mealtimes, however, he suddenly weaves around my legs. Does he not know I can tell what he's doing?

On Saturday we went to the "No Kings" march. It started near Times Square and was HUMONGOUS. I refuse to listen to the pundits who say that protests don't make any different. There were more than 7 million people across the country, and more around the world! The feeling was so good, very optimistic and that enormous relief that you are not all alone.

I went on a five day spur of the moment trip after I got an email from [personal profile] flywoman  that Robert Sean Leonard was appearing in a two character play! Why not, I thought, and booked a flight and hotel. It was the first time I've traveled by myself in probably 15 years or more! My first day we met for dinner with her partner, and the three of us went to see "Interview", at Riverside Studios, a theater somewhere that I couldn't tell where you where it was. RSL looked great. He's older, his hair is grayer and there's a bald spot on the back of his scalp but he's still SO CUTE!! After the show we spoke to him for a few minutes. He is just a goddamn delight.

The next day I met [personal profile] dizzojay and we went to the Natural History Museum and hung out for most of the day. She is so much fun, sweet and funny. I spent most of my very short trip socializing, including going to Cambridge to stay with Ms. Fly overnight. The trip to the airport was a nightmare as was getting to my flight but I made it home.

We got Friday tickets to New York Comic Con! Mr. Cuddy didn't cosplay, but I threw together a last minute "Gilded Age" costume. Nobody knew who I was, but if they guessed Dame Maggie Smith from Downton Abbey that was fine by me. We ran into some friends there! It was a long day. We didn't know we had to reserve for panels so we audited a few but they weren't terribly interesting. The end was a panel for "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon" which I've been watching. Norman Reedus is one of the nicest people on earth. After the panel was over, he signed dozens of autographs while his "handlers" tried to lead him away.

So here's a drive by post.

DW is seeing some issues due to today's Amazon outage. For right now it looks like the site is loading, but it may be slow. Some of our processes like notifications and journal search don't appear to be running and can't be started due to rate limiting or capacity issues. DW could go down later if Amazon isn't able to improve things soon, but our services should return to normal when Amazon has cleared up the outage.

Edit: all services are running as of 16:12 CDT, but there is definitely still a backlog of notifications to get through.

Edit 2: and at 18:20 CDT everything's been running normally for about the last hour.
